Who we are
guide/step is a trading name of Nathan Gould, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). When you use guide/step you are contracting with Nathan Gould trading as guide/step. Contact: help@guidestep.co.uk.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or continuing to use guide/step you agree to these terms. If you use guide/step for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it; if you use it personally, you confirm you are at least 18.
The service
guide/step lets you record your screen and turn it into step-by-step guides with screenshots, annotations, AI-written instructions, sharing links and exports. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your plan.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse guide/step, including:
- using it for anything unlawful, fraudulent or to send spam;
- uploading or sharing content that infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
- interfering with its security, including malware, probing, scraping or bypassing limits;
- reverse engineering, reselling or redistributing the service.
AI-written content
Step instructions can be drafted by AI from your screenshots. AI output may be inaccurate, so check it before relying on or sharing it. You are responsible for what you record, the content you upload, how you use the output, and having the rights to that content. Rights holders can report infringing content to help@guidestep.co.uk; we may remove or restrict content and suspend accounts that repeatedly infringe.
Your content
You own the guides and recordings you create. You give us a limited licence to host and process them only to provide the service to you and the people you share with.
Our intellectual property
We keep all rights in guide/step itself, including its software, documentation and branding.
Payments and subscriptions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund terms are set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms. Paid plans renew monthly until cancelled, and paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. If you cancel, you keep paid features until the end of the period you have paid for.
Availability
We work hard to keep guide/step running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. When access ends you can ask us within 30 days to export your guides; after that we may delete them.
Liability
Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, data or goodwill. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. You will indemnify us against claims arising from your content, unlawful use or breach of these terms.
General
We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. You may not transfer your account without our consent; we may transfer these terms as part of a sale or reorganisation. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
